BCTA members were among the 48 employers honoured as the best workplaces in Canada’s trucking industry in the 4th annual Top Fleet Employers program. Trucking HR Canada announced the stand-out companies on April 25, 2017.
The popularity of this program and dedication of fleets and service providers to establishing and expanding best human resources practices is growing. Last year 39 fleets were honoured; the year before 22; and in 2014, the inaugural year of the program in Canada, just 10.
The Top Fleet program rates applicants of every size on topics including recruitment and retention practices, workplace culture, compensation, training and skills development, and innovative HR practices.
Members among large fleets named this year are Bison Transport (Winnipeg & Langley), Canada Cartage (Mississauga & Richmond, BC), Challenger (Cambridge & Abbotsford/Aldergrove), Rosenau Transport Ltd. (Edmonton), SLH Transport Inc. (Kingston & Port Coquitlam), Westcan Bulk Transport (Edmonton & Kamloops) and, joining Top Fleets for the first time, XTL Transport Inc. (Etobicoke & Surrey). Canada Cartage, Rosenau, and Westcan were also honoured in 2016. Challenger made the list in 2015 and is returning for 2017. Bison and SLH Transport were among the first Top Fleets honoured in 2014 and have consistently retained Top Fleet status.
BCTA member Canaan Shipping Co. Ltd. (Canaan Group, Richmond, BC) was honoured as a Top Fleet in the private fleet category for the second year, and Trailer Wizards (Mississauga & Delta), the first service provider among Top Fleets in 2016, has been honoured again for 2017.
