In an effort to address the ongoing shortage of truck parking spaces in Surrey, B.C., the city council has approved two temporary use permits (TUPs) for truck parking on city-owned land. This decision, made on September 10, allows the proposal to proceed to public notification.

The first proposed site, located at 17768 96 Ave. in the Anniedale-Tynehead area, would provide 41 parking spaces for trucks. The second site, situated at 13134 115B St. in Bridgeview, would offer an additional 36 spaces. These initiatives are part of the city’s larger plan to establish four truck parking locations across city-owned properties.

Earlier this year, in March 2024, the council approved license agreements with Prudential Transportation for multiple sites, totaling approximately 150 truck parking spaces. The city will vote on the TUP approvals once the public notification process is completed.

This development is expected to alleviate some of the pressure on drivers struggling to find adequate parking in Surrey.

BCTA will continue to work with the Province to address parking challenges throughout BC.
