DESCRIPTION:This one-day refresher course is intended for in-house trainers who are currently responsible for delivering Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) training and issuing TDG training certificates to drivers within their organization. \nParticipants will review TDG training requirements and reinforce their understanding of the obligations associated with delivering compliant training that supports driver awareness and regulatory compliance. The course will revisit core trainer responsibilities\, including how to clearly explain TDG requirements\, assess driver comprehension\, evaluate competency\, and verify that drivers understand their responsibilities when handling and transporting dangerous goods. \nA strong focus is placed on TDG training records\, including mandatory record content\, how long records must be retained\, and how to demonstrate compliance during regulatory audits or inspections. Participants will also review how TDG training aligns with Transport Canada and the importance of maintaining consistency across their fleet. \nThis course is designed for existing in-house TDG trainers who want to refresh their knowledge\, reinforce best practices\, strengthen regulatory compliance and ensure their organization’s TDG training programs continue to be delivered accurately\, consistently\, and defensibly. \n*Please note that lunch is not included. \nRegistration policies can be found here.

The training includes information on NSC aspects relating to pre-trip inspections\, driver evaluations\, driver reviews\, and dealing with other driver-related training problems\, Transportation of Dangerous Goods courses\, and remedial training drivers must take due to poor performance/records. The procedures for coordinating driver evaluations\, maintaining vehicle records\, and setting up driver paperwork and retrieval are discussed.\nThe course will also focus on the need for proper record-keeping practices\, looking at all National Safety Code paperwork requirements\, including driver abstracts\, driver files\, vehicle files\, National Safety Code Profiles\, and more. It outlines the creation and maintenance of a recall system to be used for driver’s licences\, vehicle files and insurance. Preparation for audits is discussed\, with the responsibilities of the record keeper outlined in terms of setting up and maintaining all files related to the National Safety Code. DESCRIPTION:BCTA offers the National Safety Code (NSC) Program in three sections so that attendees will achieve a complete understanding of the National Safety Code regulations. \nTo enroll in National Safety Code Audits (Level 3)\, participants should have completed BCTA’s NSC Introduction & Compliance Program Courses (Levels 1 & 2) or possess a solid understanding of NSC Regulations. \nIn addition to focusing on preparing for audits conducted by NSC auditors\, participants will engage in hands-on exercises to build\, manage\, and appropriately purge NSC files. The course introduces recall systems to assist in managing expiring paperwork effectively. Additionally\, the Motor Vehicle Act regulations are reviewed to ensure participants comprehend their legal obligations under the NSC\, the application of its standards to all carriers\, and the potential operational impacts of failing an audit.
