DESCRIPTION:​BCTA is now accepting applications for Year-six of the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency (HDVE) Program. One requirement is the successful completion of this free\, prerequisite training. \nThe CleanBC HDVE Program\, funded by the Province of British Columbia\, offers rebates of up to 50% of costs for eligible equipment\, to a maximum of $15\,000 per vehicle or $50\,000 per fleet. During the application process\, BC carriers who complete this course may apply for rebates on approved fuel-efficiency equipment that promises documented savings in fuel usage and decreased greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Visit the CleanBC HDVE Program Guide for an updated list of eligible equipment. \nTo be eligible for program incentives\, BCTA membership is not required. Companies must meet the full eligibility criteria available in the HDVE Program Guide\, including: \n\n\nAt least one company representative must have successfully completed the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency Program Course at least once between August 1\, 2023\, and August 31\, 2025. \n\n\nThe incentives must be for eligible equipment to be installed on a heavy-duty vehicle (or vehicles) with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) greater than 7\,257 kg and operated in BC.​ \n\n\nAll qualifying equipment being applied for must be purchased and installed in BC—unless the equipment is unavailable for purchase in BC due to supply chain issues and/or the company selling the equipment does not have a BC-based office.​ \n\n\nThe company must conduct business in BC.​ \n\n\nThe company must have at least one terminal in BC.​ \n\n\nHave a company delegate take and pass the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency Program Course at least every two years.​ \n\n\nNote: Only fuel-saving equipment purchased and taken possession of during the Program year (September 1\, 2024 to August 31\, 2025) is eligible for Program rebates. \nAt least one company representative must complete and pass the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency Program Course every two years to be eligible for Program incentive rebates. Each eligible company with a distinct NSC number and corporate registration must send their own representative to complete and pass the course to apply for Program incentives.

SUMMARY:National Safety Code Program Course Level 2 June
DESCRIPTION:The BC Trucking Association (BCTA) offers the National Safety Code (NSC) Program Level II Course\, a comprehensive full-day training designed to enhance participants’ understanding of NSC compliance and record-keeping\, with a particular focus on preparing for audits conducted by NSC auditors. \nTo enroll in this Level II course\, participants should have completed BCTA’s NSC Program Course or possess a solid understanding of NSC Regulations. \nThe curriculum covers several critical areas: \nHours of Service: Detailed examination of required support documentation\, regulations applicable in both Canada and the USA\, considerations for driving north of the 60th parallel\, daily driving and working hour limits\, deferral provisions\, and special cases such as adverse weather conditions.​ \nVehicle Records: Guidance on developing a vehicle safety management plan\, including drafting and maintaining vehicle maintenance records.​ \nDriver Records: Discussion on essential documents and policies\, including letters of discipline\, policies and procedures manuals\, company reports related to the NSC\, driver assessments\, and the frequency of obtaining driver abstracts.​ \nHours of Service Record-Keeping: Strategies for monitoring drivers’ hours\, detailed requirements for auditing logbooks\, and best practices for ensuring compliance.​ \nParticipants will engage in hands-on exercises to build\, manage\, and appropriately purge NSC files. The course introduces recall systems to assist in managing expiring paperwork effectively. Additionally\, the Motor Vehicle Act regulations are reviewed to ensure participants comprehend their legal obligations under the NSC\, the application of its standards to all carriers\, and the potential operational impacts of failing an audit. The course also includes a study of the carrier profile\, teaching participants how to read and interpret all aspects of it; bringing a copy of their carrier profile for analysis is recommended.​

SUMMARY:National Safety Code Program Course June
DESCRIPTION:BCTA offers the National Safety Code (NSC) Program in three sections so that attendees will achieve a complete understanding of the National Safety Code regulations. \nNSC HOURS OF SERVICE \nThe NSC Hours of Service Session is designed for drivers\, compliance officers and record-keepers. The course outlines the National Safety Code’s Hours of Service standard. It examines the various cycles available\, exemptions\, and the correct use of logging hours. As well\, the course includes some information on US requirements and US regulations pertaining to electronic logging devices\, which is beneficial for drivers who cross the border. \nNSC COMPLIANCE OFFICER \nThe NSC Compliance Officer Session is the second topic of the day. This portion focuses on National Safety Code compliance – general and specific\, and looks at the ways in which an organization is affected by non-compliance. This session is designed for any person who has to act as a National Safety Code compliance/enforcement officer for a fleet. The training includes information on NSC aspects relating to pre-trip inspections\, driver evaluations\, driver reviews\, and dealing with other driver-related training problems\, Transportation of Dangerous Goods courses\, and remedial training drivers must take due to poor performance/records. The procedures for coordinating driver evaluations\, maintaining vehicle records\, and setting up driver paperwork and retrieval are discussed. \nNSC RECORD KEEPING \nThe NSC Record Keeper Session is the third topic of the day and focuses on the need for proper record-keeping practices. In a lecture-discussion format\, this training course looks at all National Safety Code paperwork requirements\, including driver abstracts\, driver files\, vehicle files\, National Safety Code Profiles\, and more. It outlines the creation and maintenance of a recall system to be used for drivers’ licenses\, vehicle files and insurance. Preparation for audits is discussed\, with the responsibilities of the record keeper outlined in terms of setting up and maintaining all files related to the National Safety Code. The record keeper’s important role in relation to the fleet is discussed. \nThe course has a quiz at the end\, to be marked and discussed in class. Participants are provided with attendance certificates. DESCRIPTION:​BCTA is now accepting applications for Year-six of the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency (HDVE) Program. One requirement is the successful completion of this free\, prerequisite training. \nThe CleanBC HDVE Program\, funded by the Province of British Columbia\, offers rebates of up to 50% of costs for eligible equipment\, to a maximum of $15\,000 per vehicle or $50\,000 per fleet. During the application process\, BC carriers who complete this course may apply for rebates on approved fuel-efficiency equipment that promises documented savings in fuel usage and decreased greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Visit the CleanBC HDVE Program Guide for an updated list of eligible equipment. \nTo be eligible for program incentives\, BCTA membership is not required. Companies must meet the full eligibility criteria available in the HDVE Program Guide\, including: \n\n\nAt least one company representative must have successfully completed the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency Program Course at least once between August 1\, 2023\, and August 31\, 2025. \n\n\nThe incentives must be for eligible equipment to be installed on a heavy-duty vehicle (or vehicles) with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) greater than 7\,257 kg and operated in BC.​ \n\n\nAll qualifying equipment being applied for must be purchased and installed in BC—unless the equipment is unavailable for purchase in BC due to supply chain issues and/or the company selling the equipment does not have a BC-based office.​ \n\n\nThe company must conduct business in BC.​ \n\n\nThe company must have at least one terminal in BC.​ \n\n\nHave a company delegate take and pass the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency Program Course at least every two years.​ \n\n\nNote: Only fuel-saving equipment purchased and taken possession of during the Program year (September 1\, 2024 to August 31\, 2025) is eligible for Program rebates. \nAt least one company representative must complete and pass the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency Program Course every two years to be eligible for Program incentive rebates. Each eligible company with a distinct NSC number and corporate registration must send their own representative to complete and pass the course to apply for Program incentives.

SUMMARY:Out-Of-Service Criteria Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Out-of-Service (OOS) Criteria Handbook is used by enforcement officers across North America to determine when a commercial vehicle should be taken out of service. The 2025 OOS Criteria will be effective throughout North America on April 1\, 2025. Though the handbook is a “must have” resource for truck and bus safety managers\, fleet directors\, drivers and shop professionals\, this workshop provides an opportunity to learn the criteria directly from Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE). \nThe half-day workshop\, conducted by a CVSE enforcement officer\, will provide attendees with the knowledge and resources to detect commercial vehicle safety issues and violations before their vehicles become operational. In turn\, this reduces expensive shipping delays\, repair and towing costs and negative safety reports for the company. Topics to be discussed include changes in OOS criteria from 2024 to 2025\, common roadside violations (with pictorials)\, and a walk through of the Level 1 procedure which defines how components are checked in relation to criteria. SUMMARY:National Safety Code Program Course Level 2 April
DESCRIPTION:BCTA offers the National Safety Code (NSC) Program Level 2 Course\, a comprehensive full-day training designed to enhance participants’ understanding of NSC compliance and record-keeping\, with a particular focus on preparing for audits conducted by NSC auditors. \nTo enroll in this Level 2 course\, participants should have completed BCTA’s NSC Program Course (Level 1) or possess a solid understanding of NSC Regulations. \nThe curriculum covers several critical areas: \n\nHours of Service: Detailed examination of required support documentation\, regulations applicable in both Canada and the USA\, considerations for driving north of the 60th parallel\, daily driving and working hour limits\, deferral provisions\, and special cases such as adverse weather conditions.​\nVehicle Records: Guidance on developing a vehicle safety management plan\, including drafting and maintaining vehicle maintenance records.​\nDriver Records: Discussion on essential documents and policies\, including letters of discipline\, policies and procedures manuals\, company reports related to the NSC\, driver assessments\, and the frequency of obtaining driver abstracts.​\nHours of Service Record-Keeping: Strategies for monitoring drivers’ hours\, detailed requirements for auditing logbooks\, and best practices for ensuring compliance.​\n\nParticipants will engage in hands-on exercises to build\, manage\, and appropriately purge NSC files. The course introduces recall systems to assist in managing expiring paperwork effectively. Additionally\, the Motor Vehicle Act regulations are reviewed to ensure participants comprehend their legal obligations under the NSC\, the application of its standards to all carriers\, and the potential operational impacts of failing an audit. The course also includes a study of the carrier profile\, teaching participants how to read and interpret all aspects of it; bringing a copy of their carrier profile for analysis is recommended.​ \nThis 8-hour program employs a lecture-discussion-demonstration format\, encouraging interactive participation through group exercises and discussions. Upon successful completion\, participants receive an attendance certificate\, with a $10 fee for replacement certificates.​ \nPlease note that this course is offered for informational purposes only and does not entitle participants to an NSC Certificate. SUMMARY:National Safety Code Program Course April
DESCRIPTION:BCTA offers the National Safety Code (NSC) Program in three sections so that attendees will achieve a complete understanding of the National Safety Code regulations. \nNSC HOURS OF SERVICE \nThe NSC Hours of Service Session is designed for drivers\, compliance officers and record-keepers. The course outlines the National Safety Code’s Hours of Service standard. It examines the various cycles available\, exemptions\, and the correct use of logging hours. As well\, the course includes some information on US requirements and US regulations pertaining to electronic logging devices\, which is beneficial for drivers who cross the border. \nNSC COMPLIANCE OFFICER \nThe NSC Compliance Officer Session is the second topic of the day. This portion focuses on National Safety Code compliance – general and specific\, and looks at the ways in which an organization is affected by non-compliance. This session is designed for any person who has to act as a National Safety Code compliance/enforcement officer for a fleet. The training includes information on NSC aspects relating to pre-trip inspections\, driver evaluations\, driver reviews\, and dealing with other driver-related training problems\, Transportation of Dangerous Goods courses\, and remedial training drivers must take due to poor performance/records. The procedures for coordinating driver evaluations\, maintaining vehicle records\, and setting up driver paperwork and retrieval are discussed. \nNSC RECORD KEEPING \nThe NSC Record Keeper Session is the third topic of the day and focuses on the need for proper record-keeping practices. In a lecture-discussion format\, this training course looks at all National Safety Code paperwork requirements\, including driver abstracts\, driver files\, vehicle files\, National Safety Code Profiles\, and more. It outlines the creation and maintenance of a recall system to be used for drivers’ licenses\, vehicle files and insurance. Preparation for audits is discussed\, with the responsibilities of the record keeper outlined in terms of setting up and maintaining all files related to the National Safety Code. The record keeper’s important role in relation to the fleet is discussed. \nThe course has a quiz at the end\, to be marked and discussed in class. Participants are provided with attendance certificates.
