This full-day course will focus on the following important aspects of US Department of Transportation (US DOT) regulations:

 

  • US Hours of Service regulations
  • The effect on Canadian hours of service regulations in cases of border-crossing
  • Border-crossing and program for efficiency, i.e., SAFE
  • US DOT record-keeping requirements
  • US DOT profiles and their impact on Canadian movement across the border
  • Mandatory drug and alcohol driver testing
  • US DOT audits and what to expect
  • The dividing of driver information in Canadian and US fleets and the rationale for this
  • Required information within files
  • US DOT regulations as they pertain to Canadian drivers,  and
  • Other basic regulations and general guidelines for operating in the US
 

The course is presented in a lecture-discussion-workshop format with presentations.  Attendees will be issued a certificate of completion.  A replacement fee of $10 will be charged for certificate replacements.
