Trucking to Soon Participate in Express Entry Programs

The Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, has confirmed to the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) that truck drivers will soon be eligible for participation in Express Entry Programs.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hosting a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) event at the Detroit, MI port of entry from September 26-30.

Call to Action: CTA Survey on Vaccination Booster Rate Among Cross-Border Truck Drivers

The percentage of eligible Canadians, 12 or older, who have received their booster dosage is 56 percent.

Based on this data, the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) continue to strongly caution the governments of Canada and the United States against changing entry/exit requirements at the Canada-U.S. land border, including changing the definition of being fully vaccinated.

Motor Fuel Tax and Carbon Tax Forms- Important Update

Effective September 1, 2022, the following forms will no longer be available:

Please note that effective immediately, the following single trip oversize permit restrictions will be in place for vehicles traveling on Highway 1 on Vancouver Island North of Westshore Parkway and South of Bamberton:

Taxpayers with Motor Fuel & Carbon Tax Accounts and eTaxBC

Effective for reporting periods that start on April 1, 2022, all taxpayers with motor fuel and carbon tax accounts on a scheduled filing frequency (i.e. monthly or quarterly) must file their tax returns online using eTaxBC. This free and secure online BC government application gives you access to a variety of online services where you can manage your accounts, file returns, and make payments securely.

Mandatory Entry-Level Training for Class 1 Licence Applicants Begins in BC

Effective October 18, 2021, successful completion of an ICBC-approved Class 1 mandatory entry-level training (MELT) course is required for all individuals applying for a BC Class 1 driver’s licence.
