A solo cyclist is riding from Saskatoon to Vancouver this winter to promote awareness for homelessness and the overdose crisis as well as raising funds for related organizations. We ask that members alert your drivers, in order to keep the cyclist and your fleets safe on any routes they may share.

The Canadian Drug Policy Coalition and Moms Stop the Harm reached out to BCTA with details about a cross-Canada charity bike ride being done by Iliajah Pidskalny, who approached them in December about his journey and its goal. They have asked that members keep an eye out for him in case he becomes in need of assistance. Iliajah set out on January 1, 2021, and expects his cycle trek to take 30 to 50 days, depending on conditions.

He is currently in Alberta, and his route is as follows:

  • Alberta: Highway 1A, Calgary – Dale Hodges Park – Cochrane – Canmore
  • Highway 1/Trans Canada, Banff – Lake Louise
  • BC: Highway 1, Golden → Rogers Pass → Revelstoke → Sicamous/Salmon Arm
  • Highway 97A, → Vernon
  • Highway 97, → Kelowna → Penticton
  • Highway 3A/3, Hedley → Eastgate (Manning Park) → Hope
  • Highway 7/Lougheed Highway, Mission → Vancouver

Below is more information on Iliajah’s journey:
