CVSE has issued a notice to advise that construction will be occurring on the Barriere River Bridge on November 16, 17 and 18, 2021 between the hours of 8:30am to 5:30pm to repair damage caused by a previous vehicle incident. During those scheduled times vehicles will need to take a detour via Barriere Town Rd.

NOTE: The detour route via Barriere Town Rd. is restricted to a maximum weight of 63,500 kg and is unable to accommodate any oversize vehicles or loads.

For travel outside of the times noted above, carriers may contact the Provincial Permit Centre to obtain a single trip size and/or overweight permits for travel across the Barriere River Bridge (Structure #02210) on Highway 5 up to a maximum gross vehicle weight of 85,000 kg.

The Ministry has begun work analyzing existing Extraordinary Load Approvals to determine if travel may be possible with additional conditions. Those Approvals will not be valid for the detour route.

Further updates to the restriction will be posted on this Notice and DriveBC.ca. General questions about this restriction can be sent to Commercial.Transport@gov.bc.ca.
