Construction activity for the Kennedy Hill Improvement Project continues, with daytime closures on specified weekdays between 5am-7am, and between 11am-3pm as shown on the latest traffic update schedule.
The Highway 4 - Kennedy Hill Safety Improvements project is expected to be completed in Summer 2022 and is currently approximately 75% complete.
Safety improvements for the project include:
- Widening the highway to accommodate two full lanes and paved shoulder
- Horizontal realignments to remove sharp blind corners
- Vertical realignments to reduce grade along the hill
- Blasting and excavating bedrock
- Providing for rock slope stabilization and slope meshing
- Installing four cantilever bridge structures to straighten the alignment and reduce rock excavation volumes
- The provision of a rest area, including an intersection to safely access the new facility
