Effective April 8, 2022, BC Ferries is increasing its commercial rates by an average of 2.3% percent on its Vancouver Island-Mainland routes.

The per foot charges for commercial vehicles (vehicles over 5,500 kg/gross vehicle weight) for Vancouver Island-Mainland routes are:

  • $7.03 for up to and including 9ft wide and greater than 9ft wide and up to 13 ft wide (from $6.87, up $0.16)
  • $14.07 for greater than 13 ft wide (from $13.75, up $0.32 )

In addition, as of July 1, 2022, a new rate class for between 11ft wide and 13ft wide will be introduced at $7.14 per foot.

BCTA is supportive of this new rate class as it aligns with our longstanding policy position that all ferry users, including oversize non-commercial customers, should pay for the space they use and appreciate the 3-month phase in period BC Ferries has provided to allow carriers time to factor the new rate class into existing and future contracts.
