TLS Next Generation GPS Upgrade

Due to improvements in technology, GPS units installed on all local Truck Licencing System (TLS) approved trucks as part of Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s (VFPA) Smart Fleet initiative in 2014 will be replaced.

Effective March 30th, 2022, VFPA is beginning installations of next generation Geotab Go GPS devices on all local TLS approved trucks. The new system will provide these companies with the ability to arrange directly with Geotab to monitor their company’s GPS activities without charge, subject to Geotab’s usage terms. The devices will also provide ‘real-time’ remote environmental performance data for TLS trucks. This data will allow the port authority to confirm that TLS trucks are compliant with environmental and operational requirements while performing port-related drayage services, as reflected in the Access Agreement and applicable laws and Regulations.

Installations will occur at the Delta Truck Staging Facility, Monday to Friday between 10:00am to 6:00pm (excluding holidays).

Annual Truck Licence Verification

Starting May 30, 2022, until June 30, 2022, Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm, VFPA will be on site at the Commissioner Truck Staging Lot on the South Shore and the Delta Truck Staging Facility on Deltaport Way and Highway 17A, performing the annual TLS truck licence verification.

The verification process includes confirming the truck licence plate and VIN number to the approved truck registration list in TLS and current truck ICBC registration. Upon successful verification, a 2023 decal will be issued to the driver.

Effective July 1, 2022, trucks without a valid decal will not be permitted to access port property including marine container terminals.
