Please note that effective immediately, the following single trip oversize permit restrictions will be in place for vehicles traveling on Highway 1 on Vancouver Island North of Westshore Parkway and South of Bamberton:
Overall width between 3.8 and 4.4 m:
- Vehicles/loads must request an oversize permit a minimum of 2 business days in advance. Permit requests should be sent to DAWCREEK@gov.bc.ca
- Vehicles/loads will be restricted to travel between 20:00 and 05:00 Monday to Saturday
- Travel on Sundays and holidays, as shown in the table found here, will be temporarily unavailable
Overall width between 4.4 and 5 m:
- Vehicles/loads with new or existing Extraordinary Load Approval must request an oversize permit a minimum of 5 business days in advance. Permit requests should be sent to DAWCREEK@gov.bc.ca
- Vehicles/loads will be restricted to travel between 20:00 and 05:00 Monday to Saturday
- Travel on Sundays and holidays, as shown in the table found here, will be temporarily unavailable
It may be possible for carriers to obtain Extraordinary Load Approvals to travel in excess of 5 m overall width with advanced notice. Those requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, carriers should contact ExtraOrdLoads.DC@gov.bc.ca to discuss the request further.
Carriers traveling under term permits are currently not impacted and may contact the Provincial Permit Centre at 1-800-599-9688 to obtain permits.
