Make-A-Wish Canada, BC & Yukon wants to thank BCTA members for your immense generosity over the year. Your participation in the 50/50 draws at the Golf Tournament and the Christmas Party helps them fulfill the wishes of children with a critical illness.

Your support over 2022 helped them to grant wishes like Kaydence’s. Kaydence is a 14-year-old who loves four-legged friends. When she was in utero she was diagnosed with a hole in her heart. The family had to travel to a children’s hospital to undergo tests and 6 months later, Kaydence was born via emergency c-section. Her first open-heart surgery was at 31 days old. Since then, she’s had several surgeries and has a pacemaker.

Despite her struggles, Kaydence’s mom says, “She is thriving and is noisy and active from the time she wakes up until she goes to bed”. Kaydence is a happy Grade 9 student and relies on a full-time education assistant.

After watching hours of animal rehabilitation documentaries, Kaydence decided on visiting Hope for Wildlife, a charitable wildlife rehabilitation and education organization in Nova Scotia. Kaydence went on her wish in July 2022 and the experience was life-changing for her.

Hope is essential for children with critical illnesses, and its life-changing power is unlocked when wishes like Kaydence’s are granted, and Make-A-Wish thanks you for helping them transform lives, one wish at a time.
