Travelers on Highway 1 near Ladysmith are advised to exercise caution as crews perform drainage and base repair work on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Thicke Road intersection.
Starting May 27, the southbound slow lane between Thicke and Edgelow roads will be closed during the day for approximately two weeks. The highway will remain fully open overnight and on weekends. Following this period, complete closure of the southbound slow lane for five days (24 hours a day) will be necessary to complete deep base repairs.
This work aims to enhance the highway's long-term resilience, addressing flooding issues that have impacted the road base. Construction schedules have been planned around weather conditions and low traffic periods to minimize disruption.
Drivers should heed traffic management personnel and signage in the area and proceed with caution in active construction zones.
