Please be advised that the Chemainus River Arch Bridge, located on Highway 1 approximately 10 km north of Duncan, will undergo construction starting June 18, 2024. During this period, all traffic will be redirected to the recently repaired Chemainus River Truss Bridge.

Due to the narrow lane width of the Chemainus River Truss Bridge, the following restrictions will apply to oversize vehicles and loads:

Single Trip and Term Oversize Permits Exceeding 3.2 m in Width:

  • Permitted travel times are from 6:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
  • Drivers must follow posted traffic signs and use the designated pullout staging lane. On-site traffic control personnel will assist by managing opposing traffic.

Travel between 12:00 AM and 5:59 AM may be allowed for single trip oversize permits, but prior approval is required. These restrictions are expected to remain in effect until the construction is completed, which is anticipated by late August 2024.
