Drivers using Highway 99 in Delta should be aware that construction at the 78th Street Interchange is starting soon, with minor traffic impacts expected throughout the project.

From Wednesday, June 5 until August 31, 2024, the northbound Highway 99 HOV/transit lane will be closed in the construction zone between the Highway 99/Ladner Trunk Road interchange and the Highway 99/Highway 17 interchange.

The northbound Highway 99 general purpose lanes will remain open for those traveling towards the George Massey Tunnel. A reduced speed limit of 80 km/h will be in effect in the construction area. Drivers are urged to proceed with caution, follow traffic signage, and heed directions from traffic control personnel.

Expect intermittent closures of the HOV/transit lane and other planned lane shifts and detours throughout the duration of the project.
