BCTA’s highly anticipated Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Management Conference held on Friday, May 31 & Saturday, June 1 brought together members to celebrate achievements, discuss industry trends, and shape the future of trucking in British Columbia, all against the stunning backdrop of Whistler Village.
The AGM featured reports on the association’s performance and goals, along with the appointment of the 2024-2025 Board of Directors. Congratulations to Justin Cheverie, BCTA’s new Board Chair. Cheverie is joined by Doug Sutherland (Immediate Past Chair), Jackie Charles (Vice Chair), Daman Grewal (2nd Vice Chair), Jason Wheeler (Secretary/Treasurer), Tina Scheuren (Associate Member’s Representative), and Paul Schroeder (Director at Large) to form BCTA’s Executive Committee. The meeting also recognized long-serving members with the BCTA Long Service Member Awards.
Thank you to Andrew Weaver, internationally acclaimed climate scientist, David Irvine, renowned leadership advisor, and Ken Peacock, Chief Economist at the Business Council of BC, who led informative and insightful business sessions for our attendees.
The highlight of the conference was the presentation of this year’s Volvo and BCTA Professional Driver of the Year award, which went to David Currie of Scamp Transport Ltd. A huge congratulations to David for his dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to safety. His outstanding service and exceptional driving record make him a true role model.
There is lots to report, and members will receive full coverage of the event in the Rearview Mirror later this month. For now, we would like to acknowledge the generosity of conference sponsors who made it all possible:
