A top lobbying priority for the BC Trucking Association (BCTA) has been to advocate for improvements of commercial rest areas that strengthen health and safety standards and accommodate the needs of commercial vehicle drivers and the industry at large. Based on these collective efforts the Province of BC has initiated the development of a Provincial Rest Area Master Plan. This Plan will identify the status, gaps and opportunities to inform improvement measures and future provincial rest area capital spending.

BCTA’s Rest Area Profiling and Improvement Survey Series will capture feedback from the commercial transportation industry that will help inform the Province’s Rest Area Master Plan and guide ongoing rest area improvement survey priorities and advocacy for our industry.

Survey Series 1 will focus on BC Highway 1 and the Coquihalla (Highway 5) route to the Calgary/Alberta border, as this route is both vital and heavily utilized for transporting consumer goods.

To help inform commercial rest area improvement priorities and future provincial capital spending measures, survey questions focus on obtaining responses to the following:

  • BC Highway network rest area project improvement priorities
  • Rest area usage
  • Rest area amenities
  • Rest area conditions
  • Site-specific needs

Your responses will remain confidential. All responses will be compiled together and analyzed as a group. This survey should take at most 10-15 minutes to complete and we encourage you and your drivers to participate before the survey closing deadline of Monday, July 22nd, 2024 at 11:59 PM.

Take the survey HERE.
