Thanks to the Manitoba Trucking Association for the write up!

The Canadian Trucking Alliance continues to work with the Canada Border Services Agency on the closure of FAST enrollment centres impacting new FAST card applicants. The issue of securing an exemption to the current travel restrictions for FAST applicants continues to be a significant challenge.

Based on the number of comments/feedback received over the last few months, CTA believes the problem is much more acute for companies that are hauling dangerous goods, because of CBP’s requirement of a FAST or TWIC card to move these commodities.

CTA has been asked for feedback by CBSA about the current state of this issue, to better inform their ongoing discussions with CBP. CTA is soliciting your feedback on whether the FAST card issue remains significant for your drivers/operations, and if so, whether it’s most acute when moving TDG, or if the problem is more widespread to other products/loads across your operations.

Your feedback is appreciated. If you have comments, please submit them to Cory Paterson, BCTA’s Vice President, at 604-888-5319, ext. 211, or coryp@bctrucking.com.
