Design work on the key safety improvement project at the Highway 97 and Highway 3A junction near Kaleden has now been completed, and construction is scheduled to begin in Summer 2022.

The protected left-turn lane will greatly improve safety by allowing travellers to make safer turns onto Highway 97 by only having to cross one southbound lane. A traffic analysis of the highway will be conducted in the summer by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and the results will help develop options for other potential safety improvements.
