Eligible companies in the commercial transportation sector will have six additional months to apply for generous incentives to purchase and install fuel-efficient technology through the CleanBC Heavy-Duty Vehicle Efficiency (HDVE) Program. Administered by the BC Trucking Association (BCTA), the HDVE Program also offers a free, online half-day fuel management course that describes the benefits of using various fuel-saving equipment and practices.
BC carriers will have until September 30, 2022, to apply to Year Three of the Program. Incentives of up to $15,000 per vehicle and $100,000 per fleet are available for qualifying equipment that demonstrates documented savings in fuel usage and decreased greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Equipment includes wide-based single tires, selected aerodynamic devices, and engine or fuel system modifications. The complete list can be found on the BCTA website.

Emission reduction technology is not only beneficial for climate change, but also uses less fuel, which can equal thousands of dollars each year in cost savings making the goods our sector transports more affordable for all British Columbians.”
Emissions from the transportation sector are a major contributor to climate change. As part of BC’s 2030 commitment to reduce province-wide emissions by 40% from 2007 levels, the Province has set a 2030 target to reduce transportation emissions by about a third. The CleanBC: Roadmap to 2030 outlines actions to reach this target as well as their net-zero commitments by 2050. For the trucking industry to meet these goals, investment in low or net-zero carbon technology and infrastructure is required, and BCTA looks forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the Province to find ways of meeting our shared objectives to evolve to a lower carbon future.
