BCTA has recently received concerns regarding engine brake noise in the residential areas in and around the Abbotsford Sumas Bypass. We would like to remind carriers to please be conscious of excessive noise produced by their vehicles when travelling through these areas.

If you and/or drivers in your fleet discover that the engine brake in your heavy-duty vehicle is making excessive noise:

• investigate the muffler system, and
• avoid using it in residential areas unless needed for emergency use and/or the safe operation of the vehicle.
