TransLink is currently planning for the next phase of rehabilitation work on the Knight Street Bridge that involves deck rehabilitation, and subject to the availability of funding, bearing replacement and railing replacement for cyclists. Construction is anticipated to start in late summer 2022 and continue throughout 2023.

Traffic Impacts:

Daytime Impacts - During the day, the bridge will be in normal operating condition – all lanes open to traffic. Traffic may be required to travel on a milled surface for approximately 300-500m.

Nighttime Impacts -To minimize the impacts on traffic, work which will require lane closures, will be conducted at night between 10 pm and 5 am, with possibly longer hours on the weekend.  During the work, one lane in each direction will be maintained.  Access to Mitchell Island will also be maintained at all times.

Trucks - Trucks up to 3.8m wide will be accommodated at all times.  Note that during construction, widths greater than 3.8m cannot be accommodated. 

A detailed construction schedule will be available shortly. All work is expected to be completed by December 2023.
