Local residents, business and industry, and the public are invited to share input on the next stage of improvements to Taylor Bridge.
This bridge is an important link for the North and South Peace regions that connects Fort St. John to Dawson Creek via Taylor. Approximately 7,500 vehicles cross the bridge every day- 30% of this traffic is commercial truck traffic.
Phase 2 of engagement on the future of the bridge is now open and closes September 30, 2022. A summary of the results from the first phase of public engagement is available here. Input from Phase 1 helped shape concepts for the future of the bridge- concepts and a summary of the work underway can be found on the project website.
Phase 2 builds on the ongoing technical work that includes geotechnical drilling, bridge inspections and in-stream inspections. The findings of these technical examinations will help guide planning for the bridge and reaffirm the safety of the current bridge structure for motorists. Ongoing traffic studies, and assessment of community, economic and environmental conditions is also being conducted.
To provide your feedback directly to the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure (Ministry), please visit https://engage.gov.bc.ca/taylorbridge/.
BCTA has met with the Ministry leads on this project recognizing the importance of this bridge in support of commercial transportation, where we raised the importance for the new bridge to safely accommodate oversize vehicles and weights and need to accommodate growing commercial transport volumes to support the local economy and goods movements. If you have a specific concern or request BCTA should be aware of, please contact Cory Paterson, BCTA Vice President at coryp@bctruking.com.
