So as a BCTA member, you posted your class 1 driver job opportunity on our website’s Job Board.

Now that you’ve got hits, did you know BCTA administers grant funds for Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT)?

BCTA motor carrier members will be required to identify candidates for MELT. The Grant Opportunity is not available to candidates who will be retained or hired as an independent /owner operator. Candidates cannot be full-time employed at any company at the time of the application.  Candidates must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons (as designated under the Canada Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, are eligible provided they have a valid work permit and a study permit if the skills training is longer than six months).

The motor carrier member will provide information as required by BCTA and provide written confirmation of intent to hire the candidate upon successful completion of MELT.

BCTA will evaluate the application against pre-set criteria and if successful, will then identify and directly fund a MELT training opportunity for the candidate. Upon successful completion and issuance of a Class 1 licence, and in the absence of unanticipated events, the candidate will be hired by the motor carrier member. Employers must intend to hire and continue to employ participants in BC.

For more details, visit our MELT Grant webpage.

If you need any assistance with your MELT grant application or have any questions about your BCTA membership, please don’t hesitate to contact us at BCTA@BCTrucking.com.
