Starting April 1, 2024, the province is increasing licence fees for commercial vehicles weighing over 12,000 kg by 1.05%.

This will add approximately $5 to $41 to a licence fee annually, depending on the truck's size. The increase in fees is being put toward Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) program for Class 1 drivers. The MELT program ensures that commercial drivers possess the necessary skills and expertise to navigate roadways safely, ultimately contributing to heightened road safety standards and reduced accident rates.

Fees for smaller vehicles (GVW of 12,000 kg or less) or buses will not change.

Early renewals scheduled on or after April 1, 2024, will have the new fees applied.
