Traffic closures will be occurring at the Highway 1 Nicomen project site starting Thursday, May 30th, 2024 and running through Monday, June 3rd, 2024.
These localized closures are required to install the new bridge steel girders.
There will be a 2 hour highway closure of both westbound and eastbound directions.
This 2 hour daily closure will occur as follows:

- Between 2pm and 4pm on Thursday, May 30th.
- Between 11am and 1pm on Friday, May 31st through Monday, June 3rd.
Access to/from Nicomen River road will be restricted.
An update will be provided on the afternoon of Monday, June 3rd.
Note that outside of these specific closures, the previously communicated traffic conditions apply, see below.
Starting January 7th, 2024. The following changes will be in effect:
- Highway 1 will be placed into Single Lane Alternating Traffic (SLAT) configuration in the project vicinity. This SLAT will run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Occasional full highway traffic stoppages for construction activities.
- Localized highway speed reduction to 30 km/hr.
Typical delays of 10-15 minutes are expected but may be longer when other major routes are closed. This change is expected to be in effect until November 30th, 2024.
