The Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project has reached a significant milestone. The main tower for the new bridge, which will replace the existing Pattullo Bridge and connect Surrey and New Westminster, has been completed.

The Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project started at the beginning of the pandemic in February 2020. Since then, the project has faced various challenges, including inflationary pressures and global supply issues related to the delivery of specialized components. The construction of the bridge tower also took longer than initially anticipated. Due to these challenges, the new bridge is now expected to open in Fall 2025.

Once completed, the new bridge is designed to provide a safer commute, as well as a more efficient route for goods movement between Canada and the United States.
