The BC Trucking Association (BCTA) is excited to announce that the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency (HDVE) Program is now open for its sixth year until August 31, 2025, or until funds are fully allocated. Funded by BC’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, this program offers rebates of up to $15,000 per vehicle and $50,000 per fleet for the purchase and installation of approved fuel-efficient equipment. The HDVE Program aims to help carriers improve their fleet efficiency and contribute to a greener future while saving money.

Key Features of the CleanBC HDVE Program:

  • The free half-day CleanBC HDVE Program Course emphasizes the importance of having a fuel management program for truck and motor coach fleets of any size.
  • Eligible carriers can receive rebates of up to $15,000 per vehicle and $50,000 per fleet for the purchase and installation of approved fuel-saving equipment and technology. A list of approved equipment and associated rebates is available here.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for program incentives, BCTA membership is not required. Companies must meet the full eligibility criteria that are available in the HDVE Program Guide, including:

  1. At least one company representative must have completed the HDVE Program Course at least once between Aug 1, 2023 - Aug 31, 2025
  2. The incentives must be for eligible equipment to be installed on a heavy-duty vehicle (or vehicles) with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) greater than 7,257 kg and operated in BC
  3. All qualifying equipment being applied for must be purchased and installed in BC
  4. Companies must conduct business in BC and have at least one terminal in the province
  5. Companies must have a current National Safety Code (NSC) certificate with a “satisfactory” rating

How to Apply:

Applicants must first successfully complete the free HDVE Program Course before submitting their application. The course, offered by webinar and in-person, covers the benefits of having a fuel management program and measures to improve fuel economy with an emphasis on BC-specific data. It also demonstrates how to develop a baseline of fuel consumption and track progress as part of the company’s program. Registration for the HDVE Program Course is now open.

Note: Companies must have had a company representative pass the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency Program Course since August 2023 to be eligible to apply for program incentives in 2024/25.
