BCTA has taken a proactive step in building relationships with government leaders by sending letters of congratulations to all 93 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) following their election or re-election. These letters not only conveyed our congratulations but also highlighted the critical role the trucking industry plays in supporting British Columbia’s economy and communities.
In particular, BCTA extended an invitation to MLAs in Metro Vancouver to meet with us and a local motor carrier member in their riding. This initiative aims to provide a firsthand perspective on the challenges and opportunities within the industry, fostering a deeper understanding of how government policies impact BC’s trucking sector.
We’re pleased to report that this outreach has already resulted in meaningful engagement. So far, five MLAs have responded with requests to meet, including the Shadow Minister of Transportation and the Shadow Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation. These upcoming meetings represent an important opportunity to discuss key issues, such as infrastructure improvements, economic conditions, and regulatory challenges that affect the industry’s ability to thrive.
By connecting directly with MLAs, BCTA is ensuring that the concerns and priorities of our members are heard and understood by decision-makers at the provincial level. We remain committed to advocating for policies that support a sustainable trucking industry in our province.
We look forward to continuing these conversations and updating our members on the outcomes of these meetings. Together, we’re driving change and building stronger partnerships for the future of trucking in BC.
If you have any questions or would like more details on our advocacy efforts, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the BCTA team.
