On January 30, BCTA attended the State of BC Transportation Update with Minister of Transportation and Transit Mike Farnworth, where the government reaffirmed its commitment to investing in key transportation infrastructure projects. Minister Farnworth emphasized that transportation infrastructure is essential for supporting housing, economic growth, and employment.

Major projects benefiting Surrey include the Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project, Pattullo Bridge replacement, Highway 1 expansion, and the Massey Tunnel replacement—all aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving goods movement.

BCTA also had the opportunity to briefly speak with Minister Farnworth about the importance of continued funding for the CleanBC Heavy-Duty Vehicle Efficiency (HDVE) Program, which delivers strong returns on investment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the trucking sector.

Additionally, the Surrey Board of Trade shared results from the 2025 Surrey Roads Survey, which highlights the need for long-term infrastructure planning to keep pace with population growth. The survey reflects strong support for expanding the new Pattullo Bridge to six lanes and proceeding with the Massey Tunnel replacement.
