Thank you to our members who attended the first BCTA Women in Trucking (WiT) Committee meeting. We had a great discussion about some of the issues and challenges facing women in our industry that the committee would like to address and learn more about.
The committee also discussed the results from the Women in Trucking survey we conducted in April 2022. Of significance, we discovered:
This year we returned to the Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort in Kelowna for our Annual General Meeting and Management Conference from June 10 to June 12. It was a pleasure to see familiar and new faces and connect with everyone after a long hiatus! The business sessions were well received, lots of networking happened, and there were some seriously radical outfits making their way back from the 80s at the Saturday evening banquet and dance.
We are saddened by the passing of John Cormier on May 28, 2022.
John was a long and dedicated supporter of BCTA, serving on our Board of Directors from 2016 to 2020. John was also a graduate of the Next Generation Leadership Program and served on many BCTA committees throughout his career. He stepped up and offered input, insight and assistance, and made sure to participate in as many BCTA events as possible.
Thank you again to all of those who completed our Women in Trucking Survey. Your responses are extremely valuable in helping us to develop key BCTA initiatives to encourage diversity in employment and support women in our industry with issues such as training, safety, compensation, and professional development.
At our Annual General Meeting on June 11, 2022, BCTA members approved the slate of Board of Director candidates for the next year. We would like to welcome new directors to the Board, introduce the Executive Committee for 2022/23, and extend thanks to those who have served.
Returning Directors:
