National Trucking Week (September 4-10) is upon us, and the BC Trucking Association is excited to be able to hit the road and thank drivers in person this year. The contributions that truck drivers make daily are unparalleled. Ask yourself- how many other industries touch almost all aspects of your life? Without the 100,000+ professional drivers in British Columbia, our way of life would be very different.
The BCTA is developing a Marine Transportation Committee, with the intent to promote the efficient movement of commercial vehicles and goods movement to BC communities via marine transportation such as BC Ferries, Seaspan City Transfer, and other barge providers. By identifying opportunities and policy recommendations for the BCTA Board to consider in support of safe, efficient movement of commercial vehicles and goods via marine transportation, the committee helps to provide direction to BCTA staff to lobby those agencies.
BCTA had a positive first meeting with interim CEO of BC Ferries, Jill Sharland on August 22, 2022, in which BC Ferries was briefed on some of the top line issues that continue to result in significant challenges for our sector.

Congratulations to this year’s winners of the BCTA Motor Carrier and Associate Member Scholarships.
Each year BCTA offers scholarships to children of member company owners and employees– the BCTA Motor Carrier Member Scholarship and the BCTA Associate Member Scholarship. This year, a new scholarship has been established: the Kerry Winkler Memorial.
$3.5 million in rebates available for approved fuel-saving devices
The BC Trucking Association (BCTA) is pleased to announce that they are accepting rebate applications for Year-four of the highly successful CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency (HDVE) Program.
