Year-one results show a 35-41% reduction in fuel consumption and corresponding emissions for participants

(Langley, November 19, 2024) — As the BC Trucking Association (BCTA) approaches the first anniversary of its Clean Carrier Program, it is proud to announce substantial progress in lowering fuel consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions among trucking companies that have taken part in the initiative. Data collected from the program shows an impressive 35% to 41% reduction in fuel consumption and corresponding emissions for companies that adopted a comprehensive suite of fuel-saving technologies compared to those using minimal technology.

The Clean Carrier Program supports trucking companies across British Columbia in their transition to fuel-efficient practices and technologies. Through this program, participating carriers receive a tailored approach that emphasizes the adoption of best practices designed to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. This includes recommendations for technology, performance analysis, and access to relevant training resources. The program’s findings clearly indicate that employing a comprehensive suite of fuel-saving techniques can substantially improve fuel efficiency and environmental performance.
