Winter tires or chains are required on most routes in British Columbia from October 1 to April 30. For select highways not located through mountain passes and/or high snowfall areas, such as The Sea to Sky Highway in the Lower Mainland and the Malahat on Vancouver Island, winter tire regulations ended on March 31.

Carriers should ensure their vehicles are equipped with tires with the mountain/snowflake or mud and snow (M + S) symbol when travelling on designated routes. Tires must be in good condition and have a minimum tread depth of 3.5 millimetres.

The following maps show designated routes where winter tires and chains are required between October 1 to March 31 and where those dates may be extended to between October 1 to April 30.
