The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have announced updated emergency protocols as a result of the floods in B.C.

The expected duration of the interim special measures will be in place for the duration of the infrastructure delays or until January 8, 2022 and re-evaluated once commercial traffic normalizes or operationally resumes.

The update also includes the addition of the Abbotsford-Huntingdon B.C (Sumas, WA) to the list of ports that fall under the temporary workaround measures:

  • Emerson, MB / Pembina North Dakota
  • North Portal, SK / Portal Station, North Dakota
  • Coutts, AB / Sweetgrass, Montana
  • Kingsgate, BC / Oroville, Washington
  • PAC Highway, BC / Blaine, Washington
  • Abbotsford-Huntingdon, BC / Sumas, Washington

All normal protocols and policies still apply to any port of entry outside of the affected area.

Thank you to the Canadian Trucking Alliance, CBSA, and CBP for working together to modify processes and procedures to facilitate the movement of goods in and out of the province.
