The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have announced that the temporary in-transit process put in place late last year will end as of March 31, 2022 at 12:01 AM PDT.
The temporary measures were developed in response to last year’s unprecedented flooding and damage to major routes into BC, supporting the supply chain and emergency goods movement through the US to reach destinations in Canada and the province. Over 4,500 passages were made while the process was in place.
Earlier this year, the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) worked with the Government of Canada to extend the process until the end of March, as many BC roadways were handling increased traffic volumes, which created significant transit times, while helping to mitigate the potential for harsh weather conditions or other unpredictable developments during the winter months.
BCTA thanks the CTA, CBSA, CBP, and the numerous other agencies involved on both sides of the border for their efficient cooperation and participation in developing this temporary process to aid relief efforts.
More information on the announcement can be found on the CTA website.
