Now that chain requirements are officially in effect, be sure that your skills and knowledge are reliable and up to date.

BCTA has partnered with Wolftrac Safety Ltd. to provide ChainSmart^TM- an online course that covers all the elements you need to know to be a competent and confident tire chain installer. Whether you are a seasoned truck driver or just starting out, ChainSmart^TM will teach you how to install tire chains in all conditions, making you a better and safer driver. Prior chain knowledge is not necessary- the course includes all learning material from start to finish.  The course includes 97 minutes of comprehensive best-practice knowledge and practical techniques and tips, as well as helpful resource material. Because the course is online, it can be completed at your own pace and you can repeat lessons if needed. Installation demonstrations are also provided that show you step-by-step how to install single and triple tire chains.

Each chapter includes an interactive assessment to evaluate progress, and participants will complete a final course assessment at the end. Once participants achieve a minimum pass mark, they will receive a ChainSmart^TM Level 01 Certification card which is valid for three years. Limited validation periods exist due to frequently changing safety regulations, which leads to updates in related training course content and drivers needing to renew their certification.
