The inspection station displaced by the Highway 16 & 37 roundabout will be replaced with a new commercial vehicle inspection station located three kilometres east of Terrace.  The station will be approximately 45,000 square metres with almost 400 square metres dedicated to an inspection building.

The facility will include parking for oversize vehicles and will support multiple services, including:

  • 5 stalls for short-term truck parking
  • 10 stalls for overnight truck parking
  • Refrigeration unit plug-ins
  • Wi-Fi and CCTV
  • Oversize vehicle staging for inter-regional transport trips

A Weigh-In-Motion sensor pad will also be installed along Highway 16 just east of Terrace as part of the Weigh2GoBC program.
Weigh-In-Motion construction is expected to be complete by fall 2021 and the sensor pad will be made operational by early 2022. The inspection station is expected to go to tender in late 2021 with an estimated completion date of 2024.
The new facility will also serve as a destination for those looking to obtain more information on CVSE programs and services.
