The British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) is asking British Columbians to complete a survey in order to share their experiences purchasing fuel from retail gas stations in BC, provide feedback on the fuel data they want industry to disclose, and determine what data would be helpful for the public to access.

In November 2019 the BC Government established the Fuel Price Transparency (FPT) Act, which requires companies in the fuel industry in BC to report information and data on their activities to the BCUC. In August 2020 the Province issued a Special Direction, requiring the BCUC to carry out a retail data collection pilot that would inform the BC government in developing regulations for the retail fuel industry.

The purpose of the survey will help to further understand the public’s relationship to and confidence in BC’s fuel market and is intended to be completed by residents of BC who drive and purchase gasoline and/or diesel.
