Did you know collisions with wildlife tend to spike from October through to January and between May and June?

Wildlife-vehicle collisions can be hazardous with potentially deadly consequences, so it is important to be as prepared as possible. The Traffic Injury Research Foundation has created updated resources on their Wildlife Roadsharing Resource Centre that includes information and road safety tips to help drivers be better prepared to avoid or respond to a potential collision with wildlife.

Here you’ll find tips on:

  • how to prepare yourself and your vehicle
  • how to help prevent collisions with wildlife
  • how to respond to animals on the road
  • how to prepare if a collision with wildlife is unavoidable
  • what to do after the collision

Handouts and reference cards are free to download.

The TIRF website also has a trucking & commercial vehicle drivers webpage which includes links to free resources and downloadable tools specific to the trucking industry.
