Calling all BC Carriers- if you want your voice heard regarding the Province’s proposed provincial zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate, please complete the BCTA Zero-Emissions Vehicles Readiness Survey.
The data gathered from this survey will be used to advise BCTA to develop a road map to help decarbonize our sector and inform our discussions with the Province of BC on a proposed ZEV mandate.
As outlined in our July bulletin article, the Province of BC consulted on a proposed ZEV mandate for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles which BCTA pushed back against on the fact 83% of our industry has no feasible zero emission vehicle they can adopt today.
The proposed ZEV mandate includes the following:
- A proposed ZEV mandate for vehicles classes 3-8 that mandates a percentage ZEV sales requirement by vehicle class effective January 1, 2026
- A proposed Transportation Refrigeration Unit (TRU), which requires carriers to convert diesel TRU to electric starring January 1, 2026
- A proposed phase-out period of diesel forklifts starting January 1, 2028
Please follow this link to complete the survey.
Please complete this survey by Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
The survey should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please submit only one response per carrier and only motor carriers should take the survey.
