Reminder: Provincial State of Emergency Until September 14
To ensure public safety and support the response to B.C.’s worst-ever wildfire season, the Province is extending the provincial state of emergency until Sept. 14, 2023. Many areas continue to have a fire risk and tens of thousands of people still under evacuation order and alert.

Highway 97 Open to Single-Lane-Alternating Traffic
Highway 97 north of Summerland is open to single-lane-alternating traffic. The section of highway was closed on August 28 after a rockslide.

Traffic Impact: Overnight work on Malahat-Tunnel Hill
People travelling in the evenings along the Malahat section of Highway 1 near the Tunnel Hill project north of Victoria can expect delays as the project moves toward completion.

Overnight Paving: North Approach to Lions Gate Bridge
Improvements to the surface on the road on the north approach to the Lions Gate Bridge will happen this month, with nighttime lane closures over two consecutive weekends, beginning Sept. 15, 2023.
Resurfacing work will affect the bridge travel lanes as follows:
