ELD Certification Update

BCTA is pleased to advise that Transport Canada has announced the first certified electronic logging device (ELD) by BCTA member Hutch Systems Inc., and that more devices are expected to be certified in the coming months. Transport Canada has also approved a third Canadian organization to be accredited to certify ELDs.

BCTA is now in field with our Infrastructure Priorities Survey to gather industry feedback for BC road and highway projects, the use of long combination vehicles, and truck rest stop preferences. The deadline to complete this survey is Friday, July 23, 2021.

BCTA and Fraser Health Partner for Successful Roadside Vaccine Clinic

BC Trucking Association (BCTA) partnered with Fraser Health to coordinate a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Highway 91 truck pullout in Delta.  From June 16-17, 2021, over 430 people were vaccinated at Fraser Health’s first roadside clinic, specifically designated for commercial drivers.

BCTA Motor Carrier & Associate Member Scholarships

BCTA offers scholarship opportunities to children of member company owners and employees: the BCTA Motor Carrier Member Scholarship and the BCTA Associate Member Scholarship.

BCTA has established two categories for each scholarship:

  1. For applicants who are graduating from secondary school and entering their first year of post–secondary education.

  2. For applicants who are entering second year or higher post-secondary education.

 

Each scholarship category awards two $1,250.00 prizes.
