Pressing labour shortages faced by the Canadian trucking industry are creating additional challenges to an already stressed global supply chain. An aging workforce, barriers to appropriate training, the image of the industry and a lack of support are all contributing to the difficulties faced by the Canadian trucking industry to keep goods flowing within a stressed and recovering global supply chain.
On December 7th Energy Safety Canada, Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC), and Alberta Motor Trucking Association (AMTA) are hosting an online panel discussion on commercial vehicle out-of-service trends in Western Canada. Join us as representatives from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) each present an overview of programs, focus areas and trends for their regions followed by a panel discussion with all the speakers.

In order to assist truck drivers in preparing proof of vaccination requirements when traveling interprovincially, the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) along with all provincial associations, has developed a vaccination passport snapshot.
The document summarizes proof of vaccination requirements currently in each province, including washroom and restaurant access and whether mask mandates are in place, and provides current implementation dates for each provincial system.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) held a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) enrollment event at the at the Aldergrove Port of Entry during September 20-24, which processed over 450 new FAST applicants.
Travellers who are entering Canada for exempt essential travel will be able to save time by entering their mandatory information into ArriveCAN once and using the same ArriveCAN receipt for each entry.
Truck drivers will only need to resubmit their ArriveCAN information if a border services officer determines that they are not travelling for exempt/essential travel, if their history changes or if their trip is for non-essential/discretionary purposes.
