Certification Steps

Step 1: Pre-application

BCTA members can begin the process by completing the pre-application form available on our website. This initial step provides us with essential information about your fleet and your interest in the Clean Carrier Program.

In order to apply, carriers must:

  • Be a BCTA member in good standing (click here to join)
  • Have a satisfactory NSC rating or better, and
  • Have completed the CleanBC Heavy-duty Vehicle Efficiency Program Course within the previous 12 months (click here to register for free)
Step 2: Information Outreach

Once we receive your pre-application, our team will reach out to you. We will provide detailed information about the Clean Carrier Program and the certification process, as well as the data and documentation we require.

Step 3: Data Collection & Submission

Collect the necessary information and documentation as outlined in Step 2. This includes data related to your fleet’s average vehicle age, aerodynamic devices used, your driver training program, and more. Submit this information to our team.

Step 4: Review & Certification Assessment

We will review the data and documentation you have provided. We will assess your fleet’s current environmental performance and carbon footprint based on the information submitted.

Step 5: Clean Carrier Certification or Emissions Reduction Plan

Depending on the assessment results, you will receive one of two outcomes:

Certification

If your fleet meets the required environmental standards, you will receive Clean Carrier certification for the present calendar year. This certification is renewable at the start of each new year, ensuring your commitment to maintaining eco-friendly fleet practices.

Emissions Reduction Plan

If your fleet’s emissions need improvement to meet the standards, we will work closely with you to develop a tailored plan aimed at lowering your fleet’s emissions and improving its environmental performance. This plan will be designed to help you achieve Clean Carrier certification in the following calendar year, ensuring that you are on the path to greener and more sustainable fleet operations.
