BCTA Wins Exit Tax Waiver & More Timely MJV Tax Refunds for Eligible Carriers

Thanks to our advocacy, the BC Ministry of Finance has agreed to waive payment of the Exit Tax to ICBC for multijurisdictional vehicles becoming licensed for use solely in BC and will allow carriers to apply for MJV tax refunds for vehicles ceasing to be prorate licensed before the end of the licence term. These measures are temporary, to support passenger and freight carriers during the COVID-19 pandemic, and certain conditions apply.

BC Ferries Extends “Certainty” Criteria to Langdale Route for Oversize Loads

Thanks to the efforts of BCTA and the Manufactured Housing Association of BC, BC Ferries has agreed to extend existing guidelines for pre-approval for oversize loads to the Horseshoe Bay – Langdale route starting October 1, 2018, with a slightly lower maximum width difference compared to those for the major routes.

2018 Roadcheck: No OOS Violations for 78% of Commercial Vehicles Inspected

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance reports that 78 percent of commercial vehicles waved over for a North American Standard Level I inspection during International Roadcheck, June 5-7, 2018, has no out-of-service violations. As a group, 96 percent of drivers who underwent a Level I, II or II inspection had no OOS conditions.
