Cambie Bridge- Reduced Lane Width Southbound Possibly Starting November 15, 2021

Please note the southbound direction of Cambie Bridge will be reduced to one lane, which will be a width ranging between 3.3m and 3.0m, as illustrated below.

This traffic control may be in place starting on Monday, but at least in effect sometime next week. This and similar configurations of one lane possibly down to 3.0m may be in effect for the remainder of this year. The City of Vancouver is advising that if this should be a challenge for trucks or larger vehicles, they use alternative routes.

Feedback Wanted for Future of Taylor Bridge Crossing

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is inviting you to learn more about the Taylor Bridge crossing and provide input into the future of the bridge at virtual open house on October 21, 2021.

Those who are interested can visit the project’s website to learn more about the project, register to participate in the open house, and access an online survey about the bridge. The survey will be open until November 15.

Construction Notice: Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project- Highway 17

Over the coming weeks, site preparation work will begin in advance of construction of the bridge foundation located within Highway 17.

While the site is being prepared, crew will be relocating utilities, realigning barriers, and creating a work zone and access points within the middle of Highway 17.  Some temporary daytime lane closures, as well as a short nighttime full closure to transport equipment, will be required on Highway 17 for both eastbound and westbound traffic.

Fall 2021 Closure Schedule for Highway 1- Kicking Horse Canyon Project

Phase four of the Kicking Horse Canyon Project will require extended multi-day closures of the Trans-Canada Highway east of Golden this fall.

Traffic disruptions and full highway closures will be necessary to carry out heavy excavation and construction required for the final phase of the construction. 

Extended closure dates:

  • 12pm September 20th – 12pm September 24th

  • 12pm September 27th – 12pm October 8th

Marine Drive Paving and Knight Street Bridge Impacts for July

Please be aware that upcoming paving work on Marine Drive will require full closures on the on and off ramps to the Knight Street Bridge on the following dates:

Saturday July 10: 7am-7pm

Daytime Closures on Highway 4 Kennedy Hill Improvement Project

Starting Monday, July 12th, daytime closures will resume on weekdays between 5 am to 7 am and between 11 am to 3 pm, with top of the hour traffic releases at all other times of the day and night. On weekends, drivers can expect top of the hour traffic releases.

Daytime closures have been in place since last year to allow crews to safely undertake some of the most complex blasting on the project.

Trans Mountain Project Update- United Boulevard Area, Coquitlam

The Trans Mountain Expansion Project is a twinning of the existing pipeline between Strathcona County, Alberta, and Burnaby, BC.  Construction activities began in the United Boulevard area in late 2020 and will take approximately 12-18 months to complete.

Currently, construction in the United Boulevard area will be completed in phases and mostly limited to the two northern lanes.

Kicking Horse Canyon Project Phase 4 construction will require extended multi-day closures of the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) east of Golden during fall and winter. This September, October, and November extended closures will be in effect. The highway will be reopened at 6 a.m. on December 1st.

Improvements to Coquihalla Rest Areas Beginning Late June

Rest area washrooms on the Coquihalla (Highway 5) will soon be receiving approximately $1 million in upgrades and accessibility improvements beginning in late June.

Three locations will be receiving the improvements including the Coquihalla Lakes Rest Area, Britton Creek Rest Area, and the Zopkios Commercial Vehicle Brake Check Facility.
