Shaping the Future of Freight Movement in Metro Vancouver

When most people think of TransLink, they think of public transit. However, TransLink also plays an important role in planning and managing goods movement throughout Metro Vancouver.

Join BCTA and TransLink for this free Learning Series webinar exploring several strategic plans and initiatives that could have significant implications for commercial vehicle operations across the region.

Participants will learn about TransLink’s developing Regional Road Safety Strategy, including findings from its Truck Safety Knowledge Brief and the factors influencing truck safety across Metro Vancouver.

The webinar will also explore TransLink’s Freight Supportive Measures Study, which will identify policy, infrastructure and operational measures that could improve the efficiency, reliability and competitiveness of freight movement. The initial work will focus on key Major Road Network corridors that support connections to the region’s ports, airports and intermodal facilities.

Additional topics will include:

• A pre-feasibility assessment of expanded Long Combination Vehicle operations in Metro Vancouver
• Implementation of the Regional Permit Policies and Procedures Manual
• Development of a Dangerous Goods Route Network
• Review of the Regional Truck Route Network

This session is also an opportunity for trucking industry members to share their experiences, identify operational challenges, and provide practical feedback. Your input can help ensure that future policies, infrastructure investments and operational measures reflect the realities of moving goods throughout Metro Vancouver.

Speakers

Vivian Law, Senior Manager, Multi-Modal Programs
Vivian leads the Multi-Modal Programs team in TransLink’s Engineering Division, which is responsible for the Major Road Network, goods movement initiatives and local government funding programs.

Katarina Stevovic, Manager, Major Road Network
Katarina has more than a decade of public-sector transportation experience spanning capital programming, project design and strategic planning. She currently manages the Major Road Network and supports safe and efficient multimodal transportation across Metro Vancouver.

Jessica McLennan, Project Manager, Goods Movement
Jessica is a transportation planning engineer with more than 15 years of consulting and public-sector experience. She has led freight and logistics initiatives ranging from cargo-bike delivery systems to Long Combination Vehicle operations.

Greg Kolesniak, Manager, Goods Movement
Greg is responsible for delivering initiatives that support TransLink’s goods movement mandate, including priorities identified in the Regional Goods Movement Strategy and Transport 2050. He also serves as secretariat for TransLink’s Commercial Vehicle Subcommittee.
