BC Hydro has launched its 2024 Project Implementation Offer, inviting applications for two distinct funding streams aimed at bolstering energy efficiency and supporting electrification across various sectors in British Columbia.
Applications are open through December 6, 2024, with priority given to initiatives in the transportation sector that advance electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, energy management, and electrified transportation options.
As the demand for sustainable practices continues to grow, the CleanBC Heavy-Duty Vehicle Efficiency (HDVE) Program stands at the forefront of efforts to reduce carbon emissions and improve fuel efficiency in British Columbia’s commercial transportation sector. Entering its sixth year, this initiative has empowered countless trucking companies and owner-operators to make impactful, cost-effective changes to their operations.

Hundreds of new jobs in the clean economy will soon emerge in British Columbia as the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) backs a pioneering project aimed at expanding hydrogen production and establishing a province-wide refueling network.
The BC Trucking Association (BCTA) is pleased to congratulate XTL Transport Inc. for achieving certification in the Clean Carrier Program. As the newest addition to the program, XTL Transport exemplifies a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility within the transportation industry.
The Province of BC has set emission reduction targets for the transportation sector of 27-32% below 2007 levels by 2030. In October 2021, the CleanBC Roadmap to 2030 was released, which committed to several policies to help reach these targets.
BCTA pushed back against provincial plans for medium- and heavy-duty (MHD) zero-emission vehicles (ZEV), based on the fact that the BC Government is not recognizing the operational realities of our province’s transportation sector.
The provincial government is proposing amendments to the Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) Act, with the aim to increase access and choice for ZEV car buyers and expand BC’s charging network.
If passed, automakers will be required to meet an increasing annual percentage of new light-duty ZEV sales and leases: 26% of light-duty vehicle sales by 2026, 90% by 2030 and 100% by 2035, five years before the original target.
Calling all BC Carriers- if you want your voice heard regarding the Province’s proposed provincial zero emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate, please complete the BCTA Zero-Emissions Vehicles Readiness Survey.
The data gathered from this survey will be used to advise BCTA to develop a road map to help decarbonize our sector and inform our discussions with the Province of BC on a proposed ZEV mandate.
The Government of BC’s annual Climate Change Accountability Report summarizes where the province has made progress on climate action, and this year significant headway has been made towards BC’s legislated greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, and how the province is preparing for the impacts of climate change.
